Frida "Lala" Süsskind (née Rubin ; born 1946 in Dzierżoniów , Lower Silesia ) is a German Jewish association official.

Life

Frida Rubin was born in 1946 in Dzierżoniów in Lower Silesia ( Reichenbach until 1945 ) as the daughter of a pastry chef. The following year the family came to Berlin . There she graduated from high school in 1966 and then spent half a year in a kibbutz in Israel . She returned to Berlin to study sociology and journalism . After the birth of her two children, she did not finish her studies.

From 1990 to 2003 she was chairwoman of the Zionist charitable women's organization WIZO in Germany. From 2008 to 2012 she was chairwoman of the Jewish community in Berlin . She succeeded Gideon Joffe in this position , who in turn succeeded her. Since September 2008 she has been a member of the Presidium of the Central Council of Jews . She is also the chair of the Jewish Forum for Democracy and Against Anti-Semitism eV (JFDA).

Since 2013 she has been chairwoman of the board of trustees of the Lesbian and Gay Association Berlin-Brandenburg (LSVD) and a member of the advisory board of MANEO, Berlin's gay anti-violence project.

Lala Süsskind is Deputy Chairwoman of the German-Israeli Society (DIG) working group Berlin Potsdam.
