On April 1, 1945 Calza was entrusted with the supervision of the excavations at the Forum and on the Palatine Hill ( Soprintendenza del Foro e Palatino ). He planned to exhibit the finds and monuments there in new museums. However, due to his early death (April 17, 1946), this plan was not carried out.
