Giela is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the northern Portuguese district of Arcos de Valdevez . 514 inhabitants lived in the municipality (as of June 30, 2011).

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Arcos de Giela and Arcos de Valdevez (São Paio) were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Arcos de Valdevez (São Paio) e Giela .
