Giersch ( Aegopodium ) is a genus of plants from the umbelliferae family ( Apiaceae ). The scientific name is derived from αἴγειος (Greek aigeos "from goats") and πούς-ποδός (Greek pous-podos "foot") and refers to the shape of the leaves, which are reminiscent of a goat's foot. Therefore the name "goat's foot" is used for this genus.
features
All species are perennial, herbaceous plants. The leaves are pinnate single or double triple, and have broad sections.
The flowers are in double umbels . Bract and envelope leaves are missing. The flowers are partly hermaphroditic, partly male. The calyx hem is imperforated. The crown is pure white or reddish. The petal has several nerves, is inverted heart-shaped and has a broken lobule. The ovary is bare.
The fruits are egg-shaped and compressed on the sides. The main ribs are thread-shaped. The oil streaks are dwindling. The stylus is more than twice as long as the stylus pad. This is vigorously developed. The fruit holder is bifurcated.
distribution
The genus occurs in Europe and Asia.
