Giese , also from Giese , is the name of an old patrician family in Danzig and Stettin .
history
The Giese family originally comes from Unna . Tiedemann I. Giese comes to Danzig in 1430. With Albrecht Giese on February 27, 1519, the nobility came to a branch of the family, while Tiedemann III. Giese dies in 1550 as Bishop of Warmia . Georg Giese had been working in the London Hanse Kontor (the so-called Stalhof ) since 1522 and was painted by Hans Holbein the Younger in 1532 .
