Gigi Parrish

Gigi Parrish (after her film career Katherine Weld; * thirtieth August 1911 as Katherine Gertrude McElray in Cambridge , Massachusetts , † 8. February 2006 in Dana Point , California ) was an American actress .

Katherine married Dillwyn Parrish, a writer who was 18 years her senior, at the age of 15 and moved to California with him in 1929. She began her film career in 1933 at Samuel Goldwyn’s film studio in the film “Scandal in Rome” . In 1934 she was voted one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars of the Year. Parrish's marriage ended in divorce, and Gigi fell in love with journalist and screenwriter John Weld . For him she gave up her career as an actress after a total of nine films and married him in 1937. From 1949 to 1965 the two owners and publishers of the newspaper Laguna Beach Post .

The Weld couple retired in Dana Point, where John died in 2003 at the age of 98 and Katherine in 2006 at the age of 94.
