The Gilbert-Sinton Historic District is an area in the southern part of Walnut Hills , a neighborhood of Cincinnati in Ohio , United States . The district forms a triangle with an area of just over 13  acres (around 5  hectares ). It is roughly bounded by the two smaller residential streets Morris Street and Sinton Avenue and the much larger Gilbert Avenue, which is shown here as both US Route 22 and State Route 3 . Morris Street not only forms the southern boundary of the historic district, it also forms the northern boundary of the vast Eden Park .

Most of the district was created by a small group of contractors who worked together. For this reason, none of the structures in the district today were built before 1880, and only a few structures were built after the turn of the 20th century. Furthermore, the architecture of the district is relatively homogeneous. Most of the buildings are large houses that were built for wealthy residents, with the architectural styles Queen Anne and Shingle Style predominate and follows the exterior design similar patterns.

In the early years of its existence, the Gilbert and Sinton Avenue area offered many amenities to its residents. When public transit reached the neighborhood, the first route was along Sinton Avenue and Cincinnati's first cable car route was on Gilbert Avenue. The neighborhoods along this route grew rapidly, and Gilbert-Sinton was no exception. The effects of these early traffic routes can still be seen in the neighborhood today.

In 1983 Gilbert-Sinton was declared a Historic District and added to the National Register of Historic Places . 87 of the 90 structures within the district's boundaries are considered to add to its historical value. Among these are Gilbert Row on Gilbert Avenue and a pair of structures on Morris Street known as Madam Fredin's Eden Park School and Neighboring Row House , which were independently entered into the National Register in 1982 and 1979, respectively.
