Cohen was part of the Israeli delegation at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . At the Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi , Cohen won the bronze medal in 2017, but competed (as did Tal Flicker , who won gold) for the International Judo Federation , not for the State of Israel. A year later, the Judo Federation was able to enforce equal treatment for Israeli judoka at the host. Gili Cohen took third place in Abu Dhabi in 2018.
