The Gill Beck is a watercourse in the Lake District , Cumbria , England . It arises on the southern edge of Blindcrake and flows south to its confluence with the River Derwent .
The Gill Beck is a Site of Special Scientific Interest . The watercourse is of geological interest as it reveals lava flows from Cockermouth Lava, which are rarely visible. In connection with other visible rock layers, it enables a good chronological classification of the volcanic activities.
