Gilla (singer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gilla (real. Gisela Wuchinger ; born February 27, 1950 in Linz ) is an Austrian singer .

Live and act

Gilla first appeared in her father's band, Niki Wuchinger . Then she studied music in Salzburg and sang in the band Traffic, which later renamed itself Seventy-Five Music. It was then produced by Frank Farian and was able to bring several singles into the charts . Her smoky voice went very well with the sometimes sexy and sultry songs that Frank Farian produced for her (e.g. the German version of Voulez-vous coucher avec moi (Lady Marmalade) ). Her greatest success was the single Tu es! (1975/1976).

After the birth of her daughter Nadja, she decided against continuing her career. She is married to Helmut Rulofs, who also published some songs under the pseudonym Chris Denning and worked for Frank Farian. Under the pseudonym G. Winger she wrote the song (I See A) Boat On The River (a top 10 hit for Boney M. ). She later founded the Vanilla group . Today she lives in Braunfels ( Hessen ) and only occasionally appears in public.
