Gillian Louise White (born June 20, 1939 in Orpington ) is a British- born sculptor who now lives and works in Leibstadt . She is best known for her large- scale works for public spaces or with commissions for art in architecture . In 1969, Gillian White won her first competition for a public work of art in Switzerland in Olten.

In 1956, at the age of seventeen, she switched to the School of Arts in London , where she studied with Anthony Caro and Elisabeth Frink (1930–1993), among others . From 1960 she studied at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris . During this time she met Oskar Kokoschka at the Salzburg Summer Academy in Salzburg , as well as the sculptor Albert Siegenthaler , whom she married in 1962. After the birth of their second child, they moved to Switzerland . She has lived in Leibstadt since 1972 - even after the death of her husband in 1984. There she works as a freelance artist with works mainly art on construction . Sabine Altorfer writes about her work Lichtung in the exhibition catalog Kulturweg Baden Wettingen Neuenhof :

“Gillian White usually chooses perfect geometric shapes, preferably spirals, ellipses or circles, and she calculates her work meticulously. But still no arithmetic arises. Natural elements, such as the sun path or the grown forest environment here, are the impetus for the artist, who knows how to combine ideas and craft, nature and technology, intuition and perfection.
