Gina Jacobs (born September 22, 1998 in Chemnitz ) is a German short tracker who competes for the Dresden Ice Skating Club .

Career

Gina Jacobs got into speed skating through her mother and she later switched to the short track. It was used for the first time in the 2014/15 season in the Short Track World Cup . At the home world cup in Dresden she started the 3000 meter relay together with Anna Seidel , Bianca Walter and Tina Grassow and reached the semi-finals, in which they were eliminated. In the end, the German relay took eighth place.

In the 2015/16 season , Gina Jacobs took part for the first time for Germany in the European Short Track Championships , which were held in Sochi. She was used together with Bianca Walter , Anna Seidel and Anna Katharina Gärtner in the 3000 meter relay and the German team was able to win the B final and thus occupy fifth place. In addition, she was able to achieve her best result so far in the 3000 meter relay that season. In the same line-up as at the European Championships, they reached the B-final at the home World Cup in Dresden, in which they finished second behind China. With this, the German relay team finished the competition in sixth place in the final accounts.

In the 2017/18 season she started for the first time in an individual competition in the Short Track World Cup . She started over the 1000 meters and the 1500 meters. On the second-named route, which was held on November 11, 2017, she failed in the heats and finished in 35th place. One day later, she failed over the 1000 meters in the preliminary round and finally finished 43rd. At the European Championships 2018 in Dresden , Germany started in the 3000 meter relay and reached the A final together with Anna Seidel , Bianca Walter and Tina Grassow and had to be content with fourth place.

She achieved her best results so far over the 1000 meters and the 1500 meters at the Home World Cup in Dresden in the 2018/19 season . On February 2, 2019, she reached the semi-finals over the 1500 meters, in which she was eliminated, and finally took 17th place. A day later, she finished 23rd over the 1000 meters. She had previously finished sixth with the German team at the 2019 European Short Track Championships in the Dutch municipality of Dordrecht . In the B final, the German team had to be content with second place.
