Gintaras Grajauskas

Gintaras Grajauskas (born February 19, 1966 in Kapsukas , Lithuania ) is a Lithuanian writer and musician .

Life

Grajauskas studied jazz at the Stasys Šimkus Music Academy and until 1986 at the Lithuanian State Conservatory in Klaipėda . After that he worked for television. He has been working for the daily newspaper Klaipėda since 1994 and since 1996 he has been managing its literary supplement Gintaro lašai .

In 1993 he published his first volume of poetry, Tatuiruotė . Several other books with poetry followed, including in 1999 the Bone Flute , for which he won the Ieva Simonaitytė Literature Prize in 2000. This volume has been translated into German and Swedish, and another into Polish.

In 2003 Grajauskas was awarded the Prize of the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture .

Grajauskas, who lives and works in Klaipėda, has also been the singer and bassist in the blues-rock band Kontrabanda and Rokfeleriai since 1990 .
