Giordan Kariara Harris (born April 19, 1993 in Las Vegas , United States ) is a swimmer from the Marshall Islands .

biography

Giordan grew up on Ebeye , the most densely populated island of the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands , where his mother Mary was born. His mother regularly took him to the lagoon as a child, where he swam countless hours. At age six, the first swimmer from Ebeye to join the Kwajalein swim team was at the neighboring US military base, which is the only swimming pool in the Marshall Islands. He traveled by ferry from Ebeye to Kwajalein and back. The journey took half an hour each time. During the competition training, he drove back and forth for morning training and again for evening training and was on the ferry four times a day.

At the age of 12, he played his first international competition at the Mini South Pacific Games in 2005. This was followed by participation in the Micronesia Games in 2006 and, at the age of 13, in the 2007 World Swimming Championships . Further participation followed. At the first Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010 , he was part of the four-person delegation from the Marshall Islands.

Two years later he joined the Summer Olympics in London over 50m freestyle , but was eliminated in the lead as the 46th. Also in the 2016 Summer Olympics he went over 50m freestyle at the start, but resigned again in the run than 63..

Giordan Harris has two younger sisters.
