The contest over 50 meters freestyle men at the 2012 Olympics in London was on 2 and 3 August 2012 at London Aquatics Center held. 58 athletes took part.

There were eight preliminary runs. The 16 fastest swimmers of all heats qualified for the two semi-finals that were held on the same day. The eight fastest swimmers in both semifinals qualified for the final.
