At the 2012 Summer Olympics in the British capital, London , two trampoline gymnastics competitions were held from 3rd to 4th August in the O2 Arena , which during the Games was called the North Greenwich Arena for sponsorship reasons .

As in Beijing in 2008 , there was an individual competition for women and men. This was the fourth time that trampoline gymnastics was part of the Olympic program.

qualification

Qualification criteria

32 athletes will take part in the competitions, 16 women and 16 men each. A maximum of two athletes per country are allowed to participate. The main qualifying competition was the 2011 World Championships , which took place in Birmingham from November 17-20, 2011 . In addition, on January 12 and 13, 2012, a second qualifying competition was held for the first time, which also served as a test competition because, like the Olympic competitions, it was held in the O₂ arena in London. The qualification criteria applied to both women and men.

The first eight athletes of the world championships were directly qualified. The five best athletes were then added to the qualifying competition. The three remaining starting places were finally awarded by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) depending on the results of the qualification to NOKs from unrepresented continental federations or the hosts. If there were still quota places left under these criteria, the best athlete in the world championship who was not qualified moved up.
