Karen Cockburn (born October 2, 1979 in Toronto ) is a former Canadian trampoline gymnast .

Career

Cockburn won a total of ten medals at world championships over the course of her career . In 2003 she won the individual world championship for the first time in Hanover and finished third with the team. Two years later , a silver medal in synchronized gymnastics was added before she won silver with the team in Quebec in 2007 and became world champion in synchronized gymnastics with Rosannagh MacLennan . Further silver and bronze medals were added in 2009 and 2011 .

At the Olympic debut of the discipline in Sydney in 2000 , she came fourth in the qualification in the finals, where she gymnastics on the bronze rank. In 2004 she won silver behind Anna Dogonadze , and in 2008 , when she finished second behind He Wenna and ahead of Yekaterina Xilko . In her last games in 2012 , she just missed another medal with fourth place.

She won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2007 . In 2011 she reached the final as the first in the qualification, but could not start due to illness. In 2015 she was bronze in Toronto.

Karen Cockburn has been married to trampoline gymnast Mathieu Turgeon since 2007 . The couple has a daughter (* 2003).
