Giorgos Mazonakis ( Greek Γιώργος Μαζωνάκης , also: George Mazonakis; born March 4, 1972 in Nikea ) is a Greek singer .

biography

Mazonakis started singing in some clubs in Nikiaia at the age of 15. During his appearances in clubs like in "To Mousiko Retire" his fan base grew more and more. Eventually, the record company Polygram noticed him and signed him. The first album was released in 1993 under the name Μεσάνυχτα και κάτι. However, the album was hardly well received and could not meet the expectations of Polygram or Mazonakis. Nevertheless, the record company believed in him, and just a year later the album Με τα μάτια να το λες hit stores. The hits Ανήκω σε εμένα, Μη μου ζητάς, Τρεις το πρωί and Φρόνιμα made Giorgos Mazonakis a superstar and helped the album to gold status in a short time. In 1996 the album Μου λείπεις followed, which also went gold and contains hits like Φεύγω για εμένα, Καταστροφή μου, Και να θες and Μου λείπεις .

A year later, his most successful album to date, Παιδί της νύχτας, was released. With 50,000 copies sold, the album reached platinum ; it contains many great hits, including Εδώ, Το λουκέτο, Παλιόπαιδο θα γίνω or Ζηλεύω. In 1999 the single Θέλω να γυρίσω was released - a duet with the rap group Goin 'Through . The single was a huge hit and even went platinum. The album Αλλάξανε τα πλάνα μου also sold well and was awarded gold.

In the summer of 2001 the single [2 × 2] was released under the Heaven Music label - two remixes each of the songs Τα Καταφέραμε Λοιπόν and Μίλα. The single quickly achieved gold status, and the album Κοίτα με followed a little later . In the next year the album was re-released under the name Κοίτα με + Beat, which contains two new tracks and nine remixes from the previous album . The songs became real summer hits and the video clip for Όπου κοιτάξεις is the most expensive in Greek music history so far.

In December 2003 his eighth studio album Σάββατο was released with the hits Το gucci φόρεμα, Φοβερή, Νικοτίνη and Σάββατο. The album quickly went platinum and was re-released as a platinum edition in the spring of 2004. This includes a remix of the song Σάββατο and the track To Gucci Ton Massai - a duet with Elli Kokkinou. In the same year the albums Live and Best - Giorgos Mazonakis were released, which in addition to his greatest hits also contains previously unreleased remixes. Also in 2004 Mazonakis went on a big tour , which took him not only to Greece but also to Australia and North America .

In summer 2006 the maxi-single Summer in Greece was released - a duet with Viktoria Halkiti, which became a big summer hit. On April 17, 2007, the single Σ'έχω επιθυμήσει was released, which in turn became a very big hit. The single took 8th place in the 2007 Greek annual charts, selected by the IFPI . After a break of almost four years, the long-awaited 9th studio album Ta Oxi + Ta Nai Moy was finally released on December 17th, 2007 .

His 10th studio album Ta Isia Anapoda , released in June 2010, is his most successful to date with over 130,000 units sold.

In the course of his 15-year career , Giorgos Mazonakis has sold over 400,000 records and is one of the most popular singers in the country.
