Giovanni Federico (historian)

Giovanni Federico (born December 30, 1954 in Pistoia ) is an Italian economic historian . He is Professor at the University of Pisa and Fellow at the European University Institute (EUI).

Life

Federico studied at the University of Pisa and the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa until 1980 . He was then a fellow at the Scuola Normale (1981–1983) and at the University of Pisa (1983–2002). Since 2002 he has been Professor of Economic History (on leave) at the University of Pisa. From 2002 to 2010 he was Professor of Economic History at the EUI, and has been a Fellow there ever since. He held guest positions at the EUI from 1989–1990, at the Institute of Historical Research from 1994–1995 and at UCLA from 1999–2000 .
