Career

Giovanni Goccione, who worked as an insurance agent , played for Juventus Turin from 1902 and is considered the first great middle runner ( Centromediano ) in the history of the club. Goccione was very athletic and had great endurance. His defensive game was considered pragmatic, brave and very robust. Goccione, who also had experience as a winger and half-forward, intervened in his team's offensive play, especially on counterattacks and acted as intelligently and skillfully as on the defensive.

Goccione completed a total of 30 championship games for Juventus by the end of the 1911/12 season . In 1905 he was a regular in the final round, which took place from March 5 to April 9, and led the Turin club as team captain to the first championship title in the club's history.

Nothing is known about his further life.
