The Italian football champions 1911/12 were initially determined in a group stage in which 14 teams, divided into two groups, took part. Four teams from Veneto and Emilia-Romagna played in one group, ten teams from Piedmont, Lombardy and Liguria in the other. Each team played twice against each other team. The top of the table in each group then played the final of the championship in two legs.
