Career

Giuseppe Milano was active during his professional career from 1908 to 1915 for the US Pro Vercelli . He was able to win the Italian Football Championship in 1908 with Vercelli . In the following year the title was successfully defended and after the narrowly missed win of the championship in 1909/10 , the midfielder with Pro Vercelli managed to win the Italian championship three times in a row between 1910/11 and 1912/13 .

Milano was called up in 1911 for the first time in the Italian selection , for which he made his debut on January 6, 1911 together with six other players of the US Pro Vercelli in the 0-1 defeat against Hungary . Milano led the Azzurri in all of his eleven missions as captain on the field and took part with Italy in the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm . At the tournament he lost to Finland in the first round with the Italians and then entered the consolation round . A narrow victory over Sweden was achieved before Austria proved too strong in the semifinals and Italy lost 5-1. The midfielder played his last international match on May 17, 1914 against Switzerland , the game was won 1-0.

After his active career, Giuseppe Milano was part of various technical commissions that led the Italian national team in the 1920s. In the 1928/29 season he trained Novara Calcio in the Divisione Nazionale , which was replaced by Serie A the following year .
