The Italian Football Championship in 1899 was the second Italian football championship to be hosted by the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC).

organization

From March 27 to April 9, 1899, the qualifying matches for the final took place. Since the SG Sampierdarenese withdrew, the rules were based on the Davis Cup in tennis . The defending champion CFC Genoa only entered the final in their own stadium.

The final was played on April 16, 1899 in front of 150 spectators at the Campo Sportivo di Ponte Carrega in Genoa , this being the re-edition of the final of 1898 . Again the CFC Genoa won against Internazionale Torino , this time 3-1, and won the Coppa Duca degli Abruzzi , which was named after the Duke of Abruzzo.

Attendees

In addition to the four teams that had already participated in the first Italian championship in 1898, a second club from Genoa was added, the SG Sampierdarenese . However, this club did not play for the elimination game against the reigning champions CFC Genoa , but gave forfait.
