The Italian Football Championship 1906 was the ninth Italian football championship , which was held by the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC).
organization
From January 7-14, 1906, the regional qualifying matches for the final round took place. The final round was held from January 21 to April 22, 1906.
As in the previous season, there was no final game, but a final round for which three teams qualified. Each team played twice against the other teams (one home game and one away game) during this final round. After these games, the team with the most points would have become champions. Because of the same number of points, however, a playoff was played on April 29, 1906. A tie was followed by another game on May 6, 1906.

Due to the tie between Juventus Turin and AC Milan , a playoff was necessary. This should take place in Milan because of the better goal difference and the number of goals scored by Milan (6: 4) against Juventus (5: 3). However, Juventus demanded that the two awarded goals from the forfait of CFC Genoa, which in turn was a protest by CFC Genoa against the 2-0 win by Juventus Turin in the replay, should not be rated. Ultimately, this led to a playoff in Turin , as Juventus 5: 3 now had a better goal difference than Milan (4: 4).
Playoffs
The first play-off took place on April 29, 1906 in the Velodromo Umberto I in Turin and ended goalless after extra time. Since there was no penalty decision at that time, a second playoff was played on May 6th in Milan on the neutral pitch of the US Milanese. This was rated 2-0 for AC Milan , as Juventus protested against the choice of Milan as the venue, even if it was the "neutral" ground of the US Milanese, and now considered themselves champions because of the better goal difference. A game in Genoa , as it was usual, was also out of the question after CFC Genoa continued to stir up trouble against Juventus Turin after their 2-0 defeat in the replay . This was the second time that AC Milan became Italian champions.
