Gioacchino Armano (born December 15, 1883 in La Spezia , Italy , † December 11, 1965 ibid) was an Italian football player .

Career

In 1897, Gioacchino Armano and his younger brother Alfredo belonged to the group of 13 students at the Turin Massimo d'Azeglio high school that founded the Juventus football club on November 1, 1897 . He also appears in many statistics as Armano I, as his little brother Alfredo also played for Juventus from 1902 to 1903.

From 1900 Armano took part in the Italian soccer championship with Juventus . In 1903 and 1904 he was in the final of the championship against CFC Genoa with his club . In the former he was a tragic hero when he scored 0-3 with an own goal. In 1905 he formed the defense of Juve together with Oreste Mazzia and won with the Turin club in a final round before the CFC Genoa the first championship title in club history. In 1906 he almost became champions with Juventus, but only finished second after controversial playoffs against AC Milan . In 1907 he failed after a long wave of success with Juventus Turin in the regional playoffs against local rivals FC Turin .

By 1907 Gioacchino Armano completed a total of 22 championship games for Juventus, scoring two goals.

Between 1915 and 1918, when there was no official game operation due to the First World War , Gioacchino Armano formed a committee with Fernando Nizza and Sandro Zambelli that directed the fortunes of Juventus Turin instead of an official president.
