The FBC Casale ASD (officially: Football Club Casale Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica shortly FBC Casale or Casale ) is a 1909 established Italian football club from the Piedmontese town of Casale Monferrato .

The club color is black and there is a large white star on the chest of the jerseys, which earned the club its nickname Nerostellati . AS Casale's biggest rivals are US Alessandria Calcio and US Pro Vercelli .

The greatest success in the club's history is winning the Italian championship in 1914.

history

The founding of the association goes back to the centuries-old rivalry between Casale Monferrato and the nearby Vercelli . After SG Pro Vercelli had celebrated their second Italian soccer championship in a row in 1909 , it was decided in Casale Monferrato to also found a soccer club. Black was chosen as the club color, as a counterpart to the white lions from Vercelli.

At that time, the preliminary round of the championship was still played in regional groups. Ironically, the Ligurian - Piedmontese regional group of Casale played with Pro Vercelli, CFC Genoa , Juventus and AC Turin as well as Inter and AC Milan, the strongest Italian teams of that time.

After the team was gradually built up and strengthened, the Nerostellati 1913/14 qualified for the final round of the championship. There they prevailed with eight wins and two defeats from ten games against clubs like Juventus Turin or Inter Milan. In the final of the championship Casale then defeated Lazio 7: 1 and 2: 0 and thus secured the first and so far only Scudetto in the club's history. Casale Monferrato was thus, with the exception of US Novese , which had won the FIGC championship in 1922 , the smallest town in Italy whose club was able to win the Italian championship.

After the First World War , AS Casale remained in the top division until 1928, after which the Piedmontese team was relegated to Serie B and, as champions of the second-highest division, managed direct promotion to the top division. They couldn't hold out there for long, however, and in 1935 they dropped back to the third division.

In 1973 Casale merged with Junior , another club from Casale Monferrato, and was called Juniorcasale until 1979/80 .

After two years in the C2 series , the Nerostellati played in the 2006/07 series in the D , and qualified in the relegation games again for the C2 series. After another relegation to the fifth highest division succeeded after the 2009/10 season by victories in the play-offs against ASD Albese Calcio and Virtus Entella, the return to the fourth highest division, now renamed Lega Pro Seconda Divisione .
