Giovanni Pettine

Giovanni Pettine (born July 28, 1883 in Isernia , † June 15, 1973 ibid) was an Italian silent film director and production manager.

Life

Pettine is counted among the pioneers of Italian silent film, which he promoted in Milan, where he worked as a director several times in 1910 and 1911. Among his films is an adaptation of Dante's Divine Comedy entitled Il paradiso for the production company "Psiche". Twenty years later he was the production manager of a film by Giulio Antamoro and directed the religious film La madonna di Caravaggio , which he also wrote and edited , under the pseudonym Gian d'Isernia (a homage to his place of birth) . His main field of activity was film distribution.

He was married to Erminia Ferrara, who was murdered in February 1926; his son Renzo was involved in the incident.
