Memorial to the Jew Jonavas in Girelka

Girelė ( Eng . 'Förstchen', from giria , ' forest ') is the northeastern part of the Lithuanian city of Jonava in the Kaunas district . The populated residential area is on both sides of Girelės Street, by the Girelka Forest , between Baldininkai and the Jonava Forestry Office . The department of the AB " LESTO " utility company , the "Girelė" garage community, is located here .

Memorial

In August 1941, 552 Jews were shot not far from Girelė. There is now a memorial at the site of the genocide.
