Girolamo Cavazzoni
Girolamo Cavazzoni (also Hieronimo d'Urbino after his birthplace , * around 1520 in Urbino , † after 1577) was an Italian organist and composer .
Life
Girolamo Cavazzoni was the son of the composer Marco Antonio Cavazzoni . After his musical training he was first organist at the court of the Dukes Gonzaga in Mantua . He supervised the construction of the organ in the court church Santa Barbara of the Palazzo Ducale , where he worked as organist until 1577.
Three volumes of his compositions include Ricercari for keyboard instruments, two canzons based on Josquin Des Prez and Pierre Passereau , three masses , four magnificats and twelve hymns.
