Girolamo Nanni

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Girolamo Nanni (* late 16th century in Rome ; † after 1642 ibid) was an Italian painter in Rome.

Life and education

Nanni's slow and careful way of working earned him the nickname poco e buono because, following the attempts of his friends to get him to work harder for Pope Sixtus V , always only with the Italian Faccio poco e buono , 'I create small but fine ' should have answered. In 1606 he became a member of the Accademia di San Luca and in 1622 of the Pontifical Academy of Fine Arts and Literature . The loss of sight forced him to give up painting. He probably died in Rome after 1642.
