Mika Mylläri

Mika Mylläri (born June 17, 1966 in Kokkola ) is a Finnish jazz trumpeter .

Mylläri studied at the jazz department of the Sibelius Academy until 1986, then until 1991 jazz composition with Jukka Linkola . Since then he has played in bands such as Espoo Big Band ; he also lived in Paris and London for several years. As a freelance musician, he worked with the UMO Big Band and the Bigband Zone , as well as Ed Jones , Geoff Gascoyne , Orphy Robinson and Jonathan Gee . In 1990 he founded his own quintet, for which he also wrote compositions. In 1992 he presented the album Heritages , on which Ari-Pekka Anttila , Marko Timonen , Kirmo Lintinen and Jari Perkiömäki had collaborated. From 1986 to 2010 he was involved in twelve recording sessions in the field of jazz. Mylläri lives in Helsinki. Mylläri also worked on several film scores such as Zombie and the Ghost Train (1991, directed by Mika Kaurismäki ).
