Gisbert Schairt

Gisbert Schairt , also Schairt van Bommel or Schairt von Zaltbommel (* around 1380 in Zaltbommel , Duchy of Geldern (now the Netherlands ); † 1452 ) was a late Gothic builder from the Lower Rhine region .

Life

Born in Zaltbommel around 1380, Schairt was probably already based in Kranenburg on the Lower Rhine in 1398 . There he headed the new building of the parish and pilgrimage church (construction period 1408–1444). From 1406 he was also involved in the construction of the cathedral in Xanten (total construction time 1263–1519), and from 1425 also at the Stevenskerk in Nijmegen . In 1440 he appeared as an expert in Kleve and Arnhem .
