Gisela Howey

Gisela Howey (born March 9, 1939 in Bremen ; † February 6, 2010 in Bremen) was a Bremen politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Bremen citizenship .

Family, education and work

Howey was the daughter of a businessman who worked for an aircraft manufacturer. She grew up with her three siblings in Bremen - Schwachhausen and in the eastern suburbs.
Until 1955 she attended secondary school on Hamburger Strasse in Bremen up to secondary school. She completed an apprenticeship for the middle postal service. At Post Office 5 she was the postal secretary until 1967. In 1965 she married Gerd Howey; both had two children. From the late 1970s she worked part-time for a specialist publisher.

politics

Howey and her husband became members of the SPD in 1966. Here she was a member of the local SPD association Steintor and various party committees. From 1971 to 1975 she was a member of the Bremen citizenship and in various deputations (youth welfare, nutrition and consumer issues) of the citizenship. From 1975 to 1991 she represented her party on the advisory board in the Bremen district of Ostliche Vorstadt ; mostly she was the spokeswoman for the social committee.

In starting and building a youth recreation center in the stone gate she performed as well as the construction of the community center Weserterrassen in the Eastern suburbs; she was a member of the board for 34 years and became an honorary member in 2009.
