Gisela Klein (athlete)
Gisela Klein , née Gisela Ellenberger (born July 12, 1950 in Wuppertal ), is a German athlete who competed for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the 1970s . She is 1.65 m tall and weighed 56 kg during her active time.
She is a gymnastics teacher by profession.
Her marriage to Friedrich Klein in 1974 resulted in two children: Christian (* 1981) and Daniela (* 1985).
Services
She achieved her first sporting success in 1968 when she became the Lower Rhine champion over 400 meters .
In her special discipline, the 800 meters , she won four German championships:
- 1972 (hall in 2: 07.1 min)
- 1974 (hall in 2: 07.2 min and open air in 2: 02.10 min)
- 1977 (hall in 2: 04.75 min)
There are also four runner-up championships in 1971 (open air), 1975 (open air / hall) and 1976 (hall) as well as two third places in 1972 and 1976 (open air). As a runner in the 4 × 400 m and 3 × 800 m relay as well as the cross-country team of TuS 04 Leverkusen, she won nine other German championship titles.
At the European Championships in Helsinki in 1971 , she finished fifth in 2: 05.1 minutes. She was more successful in the hall: in 1974 in Gothenburg she won silver in 2: 02.54 minutes, and in 1976 in Munich she won bronze in 2: 03.2 minutes.
At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , finishing seventh in their semifinals in 2: 02.97 minutes, failed to qualify for the final. She missed qualifying for the 1976 Games in Montreal by a few tenths of a second.
Her personal best is 2: 00.88 min, run in 1975.
