Gislo or Giso was Cologne's bishop from 692/94 to approx. 711 .

Life

Nothing more is known about Giso's origins and youth. Giso's name is mentioned for the first time in a document from the Bonn St. Cassiusstift from the year 691, in which he is named as diaconus et abbas of the Martyrs Church Cassius and Florentius (today Bonn Minster Church ). In 692 he was made bishop of Cologne. After his death he was buried in the crypt of St. Severin . During his episcopate, St. Suitbert founded the monastery in Kaiserswerth .
