Giulio Cisco

Giulio Cisco ( 5. October 1921 in Rossano Veneto in the province of Vicenza - 23. November 1999 in Milan ) was an Italian journalist and writer .

Life

Cisco was founded in October 1921 in Rossano Veneto in Veneto son of a country doctor.

Professionally, he worked as a journalist for the Giornale di Venezia and Il Giorno in Milan ; as a writer, he also wrote radio plays and plays in addition to prose.

Cisco became known beyond Italy with his first, multiple award-winning novel La Patria riconoscente (1988; German 1992 as The Thanks of the Fatherland ). In this novel, Cisco traces the fate of all 19 children born in 1921 (the year he was born) in an Italian village - all boys - against the background of the rural culture of Veneto that no longer exists today, all of whom were killed in World War II and whose names adorn the village's war memorial .

Cisco died in Milan in November 1999.
