Giulio Questi

Giulio Questi (born March 18, 1924 in Bergamo , † December 3, 2014 in Rome ) was an Italian director and screenwriter .

Life

After graduating in literary studies, Questi initially worked as an author of short stories and as a journalist for publications such as B. “Politecnico” and “Milano Sera”. He turned to film in the 1950s and made a few documentaries before gaining a foothold in the feature film business as an assistant director (for some of the most important directors of the time) and screenwriter.

His first film was an episode of Le Italiane e l'amore in 1962, as he also co-wrote and directed in the following years and made other contributions to episodic films. His first feature film was the remarkable spaghetti western killer, Django , which caused a sensation with hitherto unseen harshness, but also with political implications. Questi processed his experiences with the violence from his time in the resistance. He stayed true to his unconventional style in the next film - The Trap . In 1972 Questi went to television and also made several short films until he retired in 1994.
