Giuseppe Besozzi

Giuseppe Besozzi (* 1686 in Milan , † December 22, 1760 in Naples ) was an Italian oboist .

Life

Besozzi came to Parma in 1701 with his father Cristoforo Besozzi , where he became a member of the ducal Guardia Irlandese as an oboist . In 1728 he was appointed virtuoso suonatore di oboe at the prince's court. In 1735 he was appointed to the court of the King of Naples, where he worked until 1738. Then he devoted himself to teaching.

The Besozzi family produced several important oboists in the 18th century who worked in Turin, Naples, London, Paris and Dresden. Mention should be made of Giuseppe's brothers Alessandro Besozzi and Paolo Girolamo Besozzi (in Turin) and his sons Antonio (Naples) and Gaetano Besozzi (Paris and London). Antonio Besozzi's son Carlo worked in Dresden, Gaetano's son Girolamo Besozzi (the grandfather of the composer Louis Désiré Besozzi ) in Paris.
