Giuseppe Maria Foppa
Giuseppe Maria Foppa (born July 12, 1760 in Venice , † March 1, 1845 there ) was an Italian librettist .
Foppa was the author of over 80 librettos between the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. He was mainly active in his native city, but also wrote for theaters in Milan, Genoa, Padova, Reggio Emilia, Pistoia, Bologna and Florence.
His libretti have been set to music by Gioachino Rossini , among others , such as L'inganno felice (German: The happy betrayal , 1812) and La scala di seta ( The silk ladder , 1812) and Simon Mayr (including Sisara , 1793).
