Giuseppe Revere

Giuseppe Prospero Revere (born September 2, 1812 in Trieste , † November 22, 1889 in Rome ) was an Italian writer and politician . He wrote u. a. Dramas , sonnets and satirical travel sketches. A complete edition in four volumes appeared in the years 1896–1898.

Giuseppe Revere studied in Milan and joined Giuseppe Mazzini during the revolution of 1848 to fight for the unification of Italy. He edited the Bollettino Consolare for many years. In 1869 he was one of the delegates of Italy at the opening of the Suez Canal .

His works include the dramas Lorenzino de'Medici from 1839, I Piagnoni e gli Arrabbiati from 1843 and Sampiero da Bastelica from 1846. His poetry collections were influenced by Heine and Ugo Foscolo . His travel descriptions, which were published under the titles Bozzetti alpini (1857), Marine e paesi (1858) and Variazioni (1857), are regarded as more important .

A street in Milan is named after him.
