Glögg ( Swedish ; Danish and Norwegian : gløgg , Finnish and Estonian : glögi ) is a Scandinavian mulled wine made from red wine and grain or vodka and spices, such as B. cinnamon , cardamom , ginger and cloves and is now one of the most famous drinks in Scandinavia. In addition, raisins and peeled almonds are served, which everyone can supply as they wish, and which can be added to the warm glögg.

Glögg is sometimes referred to as Swedish punch or Finnish mulled wine.

Glögg is traditionally drunk during Advent and especially during the Lucia Festival . There are also lussekatter (sweet yeast rolls with saffron) and gingerbread. In the run-up to Christmas, glögg is offered everywhere in Sweden and also in Finland at any time of the day, even without alcohol. In the grocery stores and in the state shops for alcoholic beverages ( Systembolaget in Sweden; Alko in Finland) you can buy seasoned mixtures with different alcohol content.
