Coordinates: 23 ° 51 ′  S , 151 ° 15 ′  E The Gladstone Region is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Queensland . The area is 10,484 km² and has about 62,000 inhabitants.

The region is located on the east coast of the state about 440 km north of the capital Brisbane .

The largest city and the administrative seat of the LGA is Gladstone with about 33,400 inhabitants. The region includes the following districts and towns: Agnes Water, Aldoga, Ambrose, Baffle Creek, Barney Point, Beecher, Benaraby, Berajondo, Bororen, Boyne Island, Boyne Valley, Boynedale, Bracewell, Burua, Byellee, Callemondah, Calliope, Captain Creek, Clinton, Colosseum, Coral Sea, Curtis Island, Darts Creek, Deepwater, Diglum, East End, Euleilah, Eurimbula, Foreshores, Gindoran, Gladstone Central, Gladstone Harbor, Glen Eden, Iveragh, Kin Kora, Kirkwood, Lowmead, Machine Creek, Miriam Vale, Mount Alma, Mount Larcom, Mount Maria, Mount Tom, New Auckland, Oconnell, Oyster Creek, Raglan, River Ranch, Rodds Bay, Rosedale, Round Hill, Rules Beach, Seventeen Seventy, South Gladstone, South Trees, Sun Valley, Tablelands, Tannum Sands, Taragoola, Targinie, Taunton, Telina, The Narrows, Toolooa, Turkey Beach, West Gladstone, West Stowe, Wooderson, Wurdong Heights and Yarwun. Also Heron Iceland is part of the Gladstone region.

history

Today's Gladstone Region was created in 2008 from the City of Gladstone and the two Shires Callipe and Miriam Vale.

administration

The Gladstone Regional Council has nine members. The mayor (mayor) and eight other councilors are elected by all residents of the region. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
