Coordinates: 25 ° 17 ′ S , 152 ° 49 ′ E The Fraser Coast Region is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Queensland . The area is 7102 km² and has about 101,500 inhabitants.
geography
The region is located on the east coast of the state about 220 km north of the capital Brisbane .
The administrative seat of the LGA is Maryborough with about 22,200 inhabitants. history
Today's Fraser Coast Region was created in 2008 from the merger of Hervey Bay City, Maryborough City, the Woocoo Shire and the north of the Tiaro Shire.
administration
The Fraser Coast Regional Council has eleven members. The Mayor (mayor) and ten other Councilors are elected by all residents of the region. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
