Glasberg is a district of the city of Zwiesel in the Lower Bavarian district of Regen .

location

The hamlet of Glasberg is about a kilometer south of Zwiesel between Bärnzell and Griesbach .

history

The place was founded between 1870 and 1873 by Martin Stangl, the owner of the glassworks in Lichtenthal . The resulting properties were inhabited by glassmakers and initially referred to as Glaserhäuser, from which the place name Glasberg arose later.

Glasberg belonged to the municipality of Bärnzell and was incorporated into Zwiesel as part of the regional reform in Bavaria in 1978. Until the 1970s, only a narrow dirt road led to Zwiesel, then the place was opened up by a road from Bärnzell. In the 1980s, a ski lift was built in the immediate vicinity, which can be reached from Lohmannmühlweg.
