Glauco Capozzoli

Glauco Capozzoli (born July 10, 1929 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † September 7, 2003 in Borja near Saragossa , Spain ) was a Uruguayan painter and engraver .

Live and act

Capozzoli studied from 1945 to 1947 at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes (ENBA) with Ricardo Aguerre and Miguel Angel Pareja . Later he deepened his studies in the USA in the field of copperplate engraving . He also made numerous trips to the USA and Europe. Capozzoli, whose works can be found in numerous private collections in the USA, Israel and Europe as well as in international museums as well as in the Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales and the Museo Juan Manuel Blanes , has led since 1958 - other sources name an exhibition in 1959 in the Montevidean Subte Municipal as the first exhibition - numerous solo exhibitions. He also took part in various group exhibitions with his works. Together with Graciela Saralegui , he illustrated El cocodrilo by Felisberto Hernández in 1962 .

Capozzoli, who had lived in Spain since 1971, first in Barcelona and later in Borja, died there at the age of 74 in the nearby town of Saragossa.

Awards

Capozzoli was awarded the Casa del Teatro Prize for the best set of the season that he had created for Machiavelli's La mandrágora . Other awards that he received in the course of his artistic career include the First Prize and the Gold Medal at the XXVI. Salón Nacional , as well as second and third prizes at other salons. The Premio Adquisición was awarded to him at the Salón Municipal de Bellas Artes in Montevideo in 1957. In 1962 he got the first prize at the Salón Nacional de Bellas Artes . In 1969 he was also awarded the Premio Adquisición at the Latin American Engraving Exhibition ( Exposición del Grabado Latinoamericano ) .
