Glavnyj Island ( English ; Russian Остров Главный Ostrow Glawny , German 'main island' ) is an island on the Knox coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . In the Bunger Hills it is located in the middle of Algae Lake . It is characterized by two small headlands on the southwest side and cliffs on the southeast side.
Scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped it and named it in 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated the name into English in 1991.
