Gleb Gamasin ( Russian Глеб Глебович Гамазин Gleb Glebowitsch Gamasin ; born June 18, 1957 in Moscow ; † June 29, 2014 ibid) was a Russian visual artist , graphic artist and designer who also lived and worked in Germany .

life and work

From 1974 to 1980 Gamasin studied design and fine arts at the Lomonosov University in Moscow . At the same time he completed an education in art and architecture history . After completing his studies (1980–1985), he initially worked as an assistant and later a lecturer at the art school for freehand drawing and composition . In 1985 he became a member of the Artists' Union of the Russian Federation (Moscow Regional Department).

From 1985 to March 1990 he worked as a freelance visual artist and designer in Moscow. His works have been presented at art exhibitions in Russia and internationally (including Sweden , USA , Australia / EXPO 88, Germany). Some of his works are in the Vladimir Mayakovsky Museum (Museum of Russian Constructivism).

In 1990, Gamasin was appointed to the Bauhaus Dessau by the then Bauhaus director Rolf Kuhn , and in the same year he took on the position of visual artist in the experimental workshop.

With the establishment of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation , Gamasin switched to this area in 1993 at the request of the head of the Academy, Timo Tanninen. As part of his work for the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, he carried out several projects (see the projects / selection 1992–2002).

In addition to his work for the Bauhaus Dessau, Gamasin realized exhibitions and art projects in Germany and abroad as a freelance artist.

In 1992 he was invited by Helmut Strehl to support him in setting up the new Anhalt University in the fields of architecture, design and civil engineering. In the following years (1992–1994) he taught the basics of design for architecture and design students at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.

From 1993–1998 he organized and carried out several experimental projects in the academy department of the foundation with the participation of architecture and design students from German and foreign universities. This enabled the foundation to expand its contacts with various universities, including the University of Humberside upon Hull, the Design University Moscow, the University of Ottawa and the Accademia Carrara Bergamo.

After this activity he paused as a teacher for a few years. From 1998 he focused on experiments with new materials and computer programs.

The last two years after the establishment of the new communication department of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, he was mainly involved in exhibition design, event design (use of new materials and constructions of the exhibition systems, computer simulations and other possibilities of using modern techniques in the design field) as well as partially engaged in graphic design (layouts and posters).

Gamasin was married to Elena Gamasina.
