Gleim Literature Prize
The Gleim Literature Prize is a German culture prize that has been awarded since 1995 by the Gleimhaus support group in conjunction with the city of Halberstadt . It is awarded for "German-language research that makes a significant contribution to the development of the cultural history of the 18th century" (according to the statutes) and was written in a generally understandable manner. It also reminds of the Halberstadt poet, patron and collector Johann Wilhelm Ludwig Gleim .
The award was brought into being through a private donation. Supporters are the city of Halberstadt, the publishing house CH Beck and the Kreissparkasse Halberstadt . The award is endowed with 5,000 euros and is awarded every two years by an independent jury.
