List of domestic dogs

The Irish Glen of Imaal Terrier is an FCI recognized Irish dog breed ( FCI Group 3, Section 1, Standard No. 302 ).

Origin and history

This short-legged , sturdy terrier comes from the Imaal Valley in County Wicklow in Ireland. In the past, the dog was used to hunt the fox, as a betting object in dog fights (against rats) and in general to keep the house and yard free of rats. Today he is a good family dog, also because of his higher stimulus threshold compared to other terriers.

description

This terrier, up to 35.5 cm tall, weighs around 16 kg. He has small lop ears that stand up a little when excited. His hair is of medium length, of rough texture with a soft undercoat, brindle in blue, from a light wheat color to a reddish-gold shade. The mask is usually black and blue; a blue stripe can be on the back, tail, and ears.
