The Irish Glen of Imaal Terrier is an FCI recognized Irish dog breed ( FCI Group 3, Section 1, Standard No. 302 ).
Origin and history
This short-legged , sturdy terrier comes from the Imaal Valley in County Wicklow in Ireland. In the past, the dog was used to hunt the fox, as a betting object in dog fights (against rats) and in general to keep the house and yard free of rats. Today he is a good family dog, also because of his higher stimulus threshold compared to other terriers.
