The Glenbow Museum in Calgary , the largest city in the Canadian province of Alberta , has 8,600 m² of exhibition space in 20 departments. In total, the house has over a million exhibits .

history

The Glenbow Alberta Institute was founded in 1966 on the basis of an extensive handover of historical artifacts by the oil entrepreneur and lawyer Eric Lafferty Harvie (1892-1975). Having become wealthy through oil discoveries in 1947 and 1949, he began to build up an extensive collection on the history of Western Canada from around 1950, adding other areas of interest. Cultural history

The Glenbow Archive is the largest archive not created by any provincial or federal government.
